Mammoth Sunflower

A friend gave this sunflower to me in a little pot in April.  It has been fun watching it grow.  The stake is 12' with about a foot in the ground.  We're hoping the bloom opens before a freeze kills it.

Caught up

I think I've caught up with scanning and now I have nine postcards to post.  This of peppers I grew in my studio window and a couple of garlic scapes from the garden.

At the beach last week.  The fireweed aren't pink anymore.  So I used Quinochrodine rose instead of Opera pink to paint these.

This is part of the Bear Track  mountains. seen from the beach on the same day.

And this on the same day, waiting for the others to dry.

Both of these from  photos taken from the kitchen window on the morning of the 21 as fog was lifting.  The color was off in the photo..... trees are still definitely green---- and I probably was feeling fall in the air, as it had been in the hight 30s earlier that morning.

These two I painted on rainy days, from photos taken up bay.  I'm not sure which glacier this is.

I painted the sky with half moon on July 22 and finished last week, a view from my kitchen window. There was smoke from wild fires which made for the unusual sky.

Catching Up Again

This is a suspension bridge over Rink Creek going to my friend Susan's cabin.  Before it was built, one had to cross the creek with boots or barefoot.  She now has a road to the place.

I can't remember the name of this flower. I grew it from seeds and its in a pot in the sunroom.  Its a very unusual, don't you agree?

And these are clarkia, another flower I started from seed.

These two are from another painting session at Chris's house a week ago.  The fireweed were losing their bright pink color.

And it looks like I forgot to scan some more, so there will be more catching up tomorrow, I hope.

Black Bear

A black bear has been hanging around the neighborhood for much of the last couple of weeks.  He/she has wiped out our strawberries and is now working on the  nagoonberries.

Problem With Comments

A reader just informed me that her comments weren't showing up.  Thank you Dory.  Blogger  stopped sending emails in June to let me know about them. They made a lot of changes and haven't fixed this problem.  I can check on my settings and find them though.

The above are two little rosemary plant that I started from seed in April.  I hope to keep them and another one growing over the winter.  I painted it without the ink lines a week or so ago and later added the lines.

Another Trip to Juneau

I  took the ferry to Juneau again on Monday and returned on Wednesday.  We stopped in Hoonah both ways, where I did these two while docked on Monday

I drew in a troller on this one and see I didn't  paint it.  Will do so later.

This was on Wednesday, from the other side of the ferry.

As is obvious, I'm behind on posting.  I'm at the library as internet too slow at home.

More Flowers in the Sunroom

One of 4 tuberous begonias on my sun porch that have been spectacular this summer.

Blue Wave Petunias and lobelia.  I was trying to get the color right on these.  Missed on both, but the petunia is closer.
